transom building question

I have the outside plywood cut for the transom and have moved on to cutting/building the interior LVL and ply portion of the transom.  Where I bought my LVL's, they only had 20' lengths so I have some leftover after cutting out the called for pieces.  Is there any reason not to use this for the lower portion of the transom and keep it all uniform thickness form the motor mount down rather than laminating 3/4" ply?  I don't have any 3/4" ply at this time.  Would like to use what I have.  One could also likely use the cutoffs from the stringers and make good use of that waste unless there is a reason not to.

As long as you make a nice fitting joint!  Kidding aside, I agree use what you got.
