Brian and everyone

The main motivation that help me working on the GA is to be able to spend more time with my kids and family when the boat is done.  I go hiking everyday but my kids don't like it.  They love to go fishing in the ocean.  We also have a fresh water boat but we are getting tired of going the lakes.  Thanks for helping me moving forward on my once in a life time project.

Vincent

You're making really great progress too, Vincent!

Hello Brian and everyone

I have a question regarding how the Newport windshield panel fit onto the cuddy.  Do you have any photo that show how the base of the windshield panel attach to the cuddy?  Many thanks.  Vincent

Hello everyone
I have been busy with work so not much done to the boat.  Since I work alone and only have limited work space, I decide to install the side panels one by one.  Thanks.  Vincent

Hello Dave
What kind of wood did you use to make spray rail?
Thanks.  Vincent

Brian may not like this.... I cheated  :)  I could not get the tip of the stem to match the tip of the shelves so I decreased the stem angle a little bit and it worked perfect.  Vincent

The stringers fitted the bottom panel very well...I think there is no gaps in the bow area.  Vincent

Secured bottom panel to stringers and got rear framing done today.  Vincent

How'd the stringers fit the bottom panels ...like in the forward areas where the curves are sharpest?  Any gaps?  How big?

Thx,
Brian

Probably 7'.

Looks good, Vincent.  How tall is your garage door?

I spent the whole day on the GA.  Hopefully will get the hull done in a few days.  Vincent

My question is why the second layer of bow not installed when the boat bottom is closer to the ground?  Below is Dave's second bottom layer picture.   Thanks.  Vincent

Can I use common redwood 2x4 from local Home Depot for rear framing?  I fiberglassed 8 rear framing pieces from regular cheap 2x4 and they all bent after they dried.  Thx.  Vincent

Thanks Brian.  Chuck's plan has extra length on the bottom panel, stringers, and sheer shelves.  Yes the molds were placed for 28' boat.  I have everything ready to put together.  Let me try 28'-6" and see how things fit.  Thanks again.  Vincent

Brian

What is the maximum length I can cut  the Sheer Shelves?  I saw 28'-6" max was mentioned somewhere here.  Your manual mentioned 27'-11" (plus 4" max).  Can I go with 28'-6" ?  Thx.  Vincent

Are you building the boat longer, say to 28'6"?  If so, you have to space out molds and loftings as described in the manual rather than just extending the length of any particular component.  That said, you CAN follow the manual's instructions for a 28' boat and just run panels (only) 6" longer and move the aft-most molds/positions further aft by 6" ...the fit around the transom and along the chines won't be quite as tight, but the minor increase in gap is easily filled with epoxy when you build the seams.  I would say that 28'6" is the longest that you can build the boat without jumping through too many hoops.  Are the panels in Chuck's kits long enough for a 28'6" boat?  You've already built the bottom panel assembly, I think with molds placed for 28', right?
